After working out last night, my friend Mike convinced me to go get some beers. I said I was down for one or two. So we walked to the Saucer.*
My ‘one or two’ beers turned into four, but not just any four. The first was Paulaner Salvator, an 8% masterpiece. Following it was Spaten Optimator. Then came Anchor Porter. Then came New Belgium Trippel.
Please keep in mind I hadn’t eaten since lunch, had worked out, and it was already 8 o’clock in the evening. It’s now 8:00 am, I have to go to work, and my head hurts like a son of a bitch. Damn you, Flying Saucer.
*We live in an apartment complex across the street from the Saucer. Hence, the frequent trips. And falls.

"increased alcohol content is not a measure of beer's quality" you obvoiusly are not of the twenty-something variety. i apologize on behalf of your advanced years. "all by yourself." hey, i wasn't alone. mike was there too.

increased alcohol content is not a measure of beer's quality - if it was then Old English 800 would be among the finest beers in the world. Coors Light is only 3.2% - you had the equivalent of more than 12 Coors Lights. all by yourself.

that is some stunning analysis. the headache and general malaise i'm feeling are now totally worth it. i would much, MUCH rather go for the good beers than the standard beers. coors light and whatnot taste like water gone bad. they feature all the bad side effects of beer (dehydration, constant peeing, hangover) but none of the perks (taste, buzz, the balls to talk to hot girls).

yeah - but... would you rather drink 10 standard "brews" or 4 pints of good beer??

4 pints x 16 oz = 64 oz. 64 oz is 5 1/3 standard twelve ounce bottles. A standard beer is 3.9% alcohol. 64 oz of standard beer yields 2.5 oz of alcohol. However, 75% of the beer that you consumed had about 8% alcohol. The other 25% (porter) had about 5% alcohol. 3.84 oz alcohol - others .8 oz alcohol - porter - 4.64 oz alcohol total. You had the equivalent of about 118 oz of standard beer (almost 10 standard twelve oz bottles). not to mention the calories and carbs.
