my mom’s cheesecake is better than your mom’s cheesecake

I’ve bragged about my mom’s cheesecake to a couple of my classmates and found myself in quite the predicament – their moms make cheesecake too. Or the classmates themselves do. So I promised to bring one of my mom’s famous cakes so they could decide on their own. Of course, this required no actual work on my part, so it was easy. I just asked my mom to make a cheesecake and, viola, it appeared. My dad confiscated half of it, though, so I ended up bringing a half-cheesecake to school. What you see below is all that was left after the few students that hung around after class today had their fill.

They liked it. No word though if it trumped other cheesecakes they’d tried. And yeah, I gave a piece to my scary con law teacher. How could I resist? Maybe she won’t call on me for a while. Last time she called on me, my brain stopped working and my throat closed up.

yeah, i'm noticing a serious trend. but some of the beer posts have been rather entertaining, and usually draw some commentary.

you should change this to a food blog. people seem to care a lot more about your food writing than your music/books/bikes/beer/law/stuff writing.

aww, thanks ya'll, glad you liked it. yeah, my mom still cooks everything as if she's cooking for a guy whose metabolism runs a million miles per hour (ie, me). but if it weren't for her, i'd proabably starve. law school makes it hard to cook. sitting up front in con law is kinda weird. i can almost hear the bullets whizzing by above my head. i try to keep a low profile. as a lactarded person, cheesecake is damn good, but it eventually results in a stomach ache. a very worthwhile stomach ache. hah - slightly challeneged... i'm totally challenged in baking anything. i think i can handle those ready-to-bake cookies though. mmmmm. we should start bringing cookies to school. i'm all for bribing teachers with baked goods.

i thought it was very much worth the wait. we do alot of baked goods at my house, only they usually start in a box. did you know you can make cheesecake from a box. yup, its made by jello and pretty darn good. they even have a low fat one...for all those slightly challenged in the "baking from scratch" department.

so as a lactose intolerant, is cheesecake good with disastrous consequences, or is it just something to avoid? (never been much of a cheesecake person... lemon cake with lemon icing trumps it EVERY day in my book)

that cheesecake was pretty damn good. the only other homemade cheesecake i've tasted was my ex-boss's. she was a cheesecake-making fool & we had so many of them around the office that i blame her for that extra 15 pounds i'm currently sporting. yeah, that's it. re: con law. does she have an innate sense of when i totally space out or something? she's called on me twice in 2 classes when i've been completely out of it & unable to answer her questions. no matter how hard i prepare or try to pay attention, i'm doomed.
