it's my spring break, too. i just have to finish creating a new terrorism threat assessment. no, it's not indie (sxsw, not the threat assessment), it's really pricey, but i haven't been to austin, and i haven't seen rockstar matt since 2000. meet you there.

Actually I think part of it happens over our spring break so we could catch the end of it, but pretty much all the stuff I would want to see will be long gone. Plus there are too many people there for me to make it sound indie so I can not claim to want to go, even though I do.

Aww, skorloff, i only like illegal downloads. Legal ones are so much less thrilling. heather - yeah, i hear ya. it's way too crowded, but it's a great way to knock lots of bands off my list at one time. cherz, swandive, darcy: we should all skip school and meet in Austin. damn the man! or rather, damn our education! hmmm....

i have to be honest, i hadn't bothered with sxsw the last couple of years i was in austin, mostly because my hook-ups for free passes and/or wristbands ran out and i'm no longer the huge bar hag i was in my early 20's, so i couldn't sneak in the back door. it's too crowded, too expensive and i'm too old and grumpy. hrrmph! but mostly i thought, "screw it. these bands will be in austin again soon & i can see them without 5000 alter-natives crowded in the bar."

maybe you can't see those bands, but you can download a bunch of sxsw music for free (and legal).

ohhh... the aquabats make me think of jakeamasnake... you're also missing world leader pretend. (my friend matt's band. had he been in the band since the inception he would NOT have named it after an REM song) if it's any consolation, i'm missing all of those bands too...
