so...close...

Spring break is around the corner and I can’t freaking wait. On the other hand, as my classmate said, “it’s spring, but it sure ain’t a break.” I plan to spend my break teaching myself Contracts and Property and starting my appellate brief. Good times. Can’t wait.

The weather in Houston is whack. It was warm and sunny for a few days and then the weather did a 180. It’s cold and rainy now, and by cold, I mean 45 degrees. Don’t laugh at me, I’m a warm weather person. And better yet, it’s supposed to rain this weekend.

Here’s a special message to my buddy in San Antonio who’s leaving for law school – I still think you’re crazy for going to Baylor over U of H, but whatever. I talked to some people today who said it’s crazy hard at that school. I mean, law school isn’t a cakewalk, but Baylor apparently makes it extra-hard for some unknown reason. Don’t come crying to me when Civ Pro kicks your ass and the curve sucks because there are so few people in your class. Yeah that’s right. The less people, the worse the curve. Think statistics. The smaller the sample, the harder it is to make a smooth curve.

Ok stats people, you can leave comments on how right or wrong I am.

Steve - of course i agree, but my friend just liked the campus and the small-town feel more, and with his partiular situation right now at work, starting Baylor in the summer just made more sense. skorloff - you do. it's Mike. Ric - he has about as much of an idea of what he wants to do as the average pre-L would. that is, i don't think he has a clue. Sam - i gave him a similar spiel, but Baylor just made more sense for him, and i have to agree. dood - yay! no fair. i wanna go. take pictures for me and put them on your webiste?

When I picked a school, I compared the average starting salaries and relative difficulty in making law review; I'd put UH over Baylor and South Texas over both of them.

Ric:

If you are very certain that you are going to practice in Texas and that you want to be a civil litigator... Baylor is a good choice.

do i know the SA-based law school bound party?

I would choose UH over Baylor simply for the tuition, unless you're not from Texas, in which case, that wouldn't really matter. I've heard horror stories of 3Ls failing classes at Baylor; that they're one of only a few schools in Texas, and maybe the country that will do that. 45 degrees is fine, back up in the great white north, that's shorts weather, eh?
