I read my comment, and it seems to be jibberish(I've been awake since 7:00 Tuesday morning, so I'm allowed to not type very well). Thank you for the invitation, but the wife and I left at 3:00am Wednesday, so we're safely in Belton (which likely will get hit by a Catagory 1 Rita on Saturday). We could only take a small portion of our stuff, so I'm not expecting to still have clothes, DVDs, a TV or a computer when we get back (either the storm or the looters should take care of all of it). I took my laptop, cats, suits, books and wife, so the important things will be ok.

I'd say have a plan to leave if you decide to or are ordered to. Don't stick it out if it looks like it's coming at Houston. It's be 20 years since Houston took a hurricane and that was a small one compared to this. Leaving sooner rather than later makes you more likely to avoid the traffic jam/lack of places to stay. My friends in Austin say that there is no hotel space there at all.

The coast is no longer 1 hour away; it took my sister 4 hours to get from Galveston to Rice. The wife and I left at Since I live an evacuation area, can I call myself a evacuee/refugee and get FEMA money?
