Fall Vacation, Day Two and Day Three

I have perfected my ACL Day Two and Day Three Schedule:

Day Two
Raul Malo
Paulo Nutini (this kid can PAR-TAY)
Cold War Kids
Blue October and Damien Rice - its a toss up, I have seen Damien and he is great but I haven't ever seen BO and although some people hate them, I like a couple of their songs. hmmm...
Andrew Bird
Muse
Indigo Girls
White Stripes

*I am really disappointed that Amy Wino has to be such a crackhead and had to cancel her ACL Day Two appearance. At least she is sticking to her guns and staying out of rehab.

Day Three
Sound Tribe Sector 9
Ben Kweller
Rodrigo y Gabriela
Bloc Party
REGINA SPEKTOR
Wilco
Ghostland Observatory
The Bob

So there it is folks. My Fall Vacation Schedule. I will likely return to Dallas with tacky tan lines and less brain cells. When I return, perhaps I will discuss my thoughts and opinions of the bands and festival. Or I could discuss an even more boring subject, my love life.

MPB:

You gotta love the diversity of a music fest where you can go see Raul Malo, Damien Rice, and Muse all in the same day.

Please post your impressions after you recover from the weekend. I'm interested to here your impressions of STS9, of whom I've heard much, but never actually heard any of their music.

On a side note, I saw Ben Kweller a couple weekends ago in Boulder and it was fun although not earth-shattering....

Pajama Grrl:

Bad news...Rodrigo Y Gabriela cancelled their remaining shows so they will not be at ACL. I am quite disappointed.

MPB, I have seen Ben Kweller a couple times and I have to agree with you, nothing great. The only reason he is on my schedule is because he is the best for that time slot. I may just opt to not listen to him and decide it's peanut butter and jelly time.

pajama grrl:

UPDATE: The White Stripes just cancelled. ouch.

particleman:

No White Stripes? That is BULLSHIT. That was like half of my reason for going (other half being Muse, other half Bloc Party, other half Kaiser Chiefs). Man. I am bummed.

Who the hell is Sound Tribe Sector 9? I must have been living on another planet for the last four months.

MPB:

wow, peoples are cancelling left and right. did they all realize that its really REALLY hot in Austin this time of year and reconsider?

STS9 is some sort of electronica jam band. They are loved by techno-hippies I guess. I'm picturing someone with dreadlocks and a bluetooth in their ear....

particleman:

HAH! "someone with dreadlocks and a bluetooth in their ear." Brilliant.

shailey:

I suggest seeing Blue October, but not at ACL. Check them out when they are playing a smaller venue in Dallas. They are amazing in concert, I have seen them 20+ times. But, it's harder at the bigger venues.

Catch part of thier show if you're up to it, but I think that they are band that plays a lot in Texas-- so it'd be a better opportunity to catch someone else.
