Festival Culture

I am back and feeling crispy. ACL 2007 was a great success. Although I was disappointed that Rodrigo Y Gabriella cancelled, Common was their replacement and the guy rocked. He was engaging, interactive and entertaining. I will start with my Top 3 Favorite Shows:

1. Common
2. Ghostland Observatory (breath taking, awesome light show)
3. The Killers (Brandon Flowers rocked out)

Other Top Contenders: STS9, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Gotan Project, Andrew Bird

Top 3 Disappointments:
1. Regina Spektor (Was she nervous? she was definitely boring)
2. Blue October (nothing too exciting, but perhaps I should see them at a smaller venue)
3. Bob Dylan (I could have grumbled and moaned and made better music)

Overall, I had a great time in a beautiful city surrounded by beautiful people. I love the Festival Culture that thrives in these types on environments.

I would also like to give a shout out to all the hot, sweaty, shirtless men that graced me with their hot presence. How I love thee. I would love to take one of you home to Mom someday.

MPB:

Glad to hear it was fun and the shows were good. How were the Cold War Kids? Wilco?

On a related note, every band that was on their way to (or leaving) Austin must've had a layover in Denver, because the line-up of bands playing in one week is ridiculous. Going back a week from this coming Thursday, the list includes:

Damien Rice, The Roots, The Arcade Fire, Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley, Muse, Josh Rouse, The National, Reckless Kelly, The Flaming Lips, Cake, the list goes on... In a Week!

I would have loved to see the National but by the time I heard they were playing I had already bought Muse tickets. And this weekend is out for shows, because as of Friday at 6 PM I will be doing this.

Oh... and I really need to post more often but my stupid office banned access to gmail, which is where my pw for editing the site was, and now I can't post at "lunch". Which sucks. I will post soon though, oh yes....

particleman:

Blasphemy. Pure blasphemy. You pan Regina and omit Muse entirely. Shameful!

Common was awesome though. I totally agree on that. I have pics and a story to post too as soon as i get around to it.

Eric Bogle's Do you know any Dylan? sounds like a good fit for your musical tastes...

MPB-

GO SEE THE LIPS!! Probably the best show I have ever seen. I also love The Roots and when they were in town, Erykah Badu was the surprise guest and they rocked.

MPB:

MY friend who was at ACL told me Muse rocked the hardest of any band there, or so I was told. I am going to see them tonight at Red Rocks.

PG - I would've loved to have seen the Flaming Lips, but I didn't hear that they were playing until the night of the show, and I already had other plans. They play here alot though, so I'll catch them sometime.
